NEWS CENTER – The coordination of YPS and YPS JIN issued a written statement commemorating Mehmet Tunç and Asya Yüksel, who were burned in the basements of Cizre by the occupying Turkish state during the historical self-government resistance of the cities in Bakur Kurdistan.

The statement by the YPS and YPS JIN states:

“As YPS-YPS JIN, we respectfully commemorate Mehmet Tunç and Asya Yüksel, who were among the spirits of resistance in the historic self-government resistances of 2015-2016, and all our Şehîds who were cremated in the cellars of the Cizre atrocity; We express once again that we will face this process with our determination in the truth that those who do not kneel, resist and fight will achieve the end result of victory.

The process of self-government was the awakening, resurrection and resistance of a society. This process has produced its pioneers, fighters and true Welatparêz. The resistant society of the Mesopotamian countries, which has always resisted injustice, oppression, massacres, policies of assimilation, denial and extermination, has preserved and kept alive the culture of resistance and non-submission. During the 79-day curfew imposed on December 14, 2015, the main goal of Turkish fascism was to completely condemn Kurdish society as Kurdish slaves. While the pursuit of freedom was the greatest crime for a Kurd, resisting injustice, the attempt to live one’s own culture, language and system, a justification for a massacre. This historical alignment against Kurdish society is violently expressed today. The reason for the opponent’s murderous Kurdish policy is his fear of the social reality of the Kurds. The Kurdish social reality, which is the source of human history, the life source of democratic culture and the reason for its development to this day, has always been seen as a threat to the ruling powers. They have viewed the existence of this reality as their own annihilation. That is why they have defined our awakening and resistance processes as a war between existence and non-existence for themselves. Every resisting Kurd has become a wound in the heart of Turkish fascism. The fact that even a single Kurd should stand up, claim his rights, experience an awakening and try to be himself is met with great intolerance by this fascism and the first thing that comes to mind is annihilation.

With its struggle, the Kurdish society has now reached a position that is recognized by the whole world and that affects the political balance both in the Middle East and in the world at large. It has become a striving for freedom not only of Kurdish society but of all oppressed and exploited society. The reason for this great embrace of societies is that our struggle is a legitimate struggle of societies. In this legitimate struggle of societies, colonialism is doomed to failure. Above all, the reality of today’s war shows this much more clearly. While there is a rotten capitalist system and an impoverished nation-state reality, it is well known that a democratic, ecological, life free of women is the basic longing of all societies. The only reason for the realization of this longing is organized struggle. Either they will experience the slavery imposed upon them by condemning their desires to their fears, or they will engage in a struggle for a real life. The only decision Mehmet Tunç and Asya Yüksel made in their lives was: “If there is to be life, it will be free”. Her basic philosophy of life was to live an honorable life and not accept imposed backwardness and rootlessness. As a result, they knew how to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. They became the significant pioneers of life, especially for Kurdish society. They became the indomitable fighters of the revolutionary people’s war. They became symbols of the culture of resistance. They became the simplicity of how politics and resistance should be. Mehmet Tunç said in his last contact: “No one should expect us to surrender, we will resist shoulder to shoulder as on the first day and suffer martyrdom for this cause if necessary. We resisted, we didn’t give up, be proud of us”, with these words he expressed that he, Asya Yüksel and a total of 177 resistance fighters are today the symbols of the resistance line in the history of Kurdistan.

Once again we commemorate with respect and gratitude all the Şehîds who lost their lives in the cellars in the person of Asya Yüksel and Mehmet Tunç. As a Kurdish society, women and young people, we have only one mission: revenge!

Revenge, to be able to demand an account of what happened, without forgetting everything that we have experienced, to achieve a free country and a free life by ensuring our Chairman’s physical freedom.”
